Today we travelled to Welwyn Garden City to face King George girls u11’s FC. We had the luxury to pick the starting line up from the full squad today for our last game of the season.
The formation changed from their regular 2-3-1 to 2-2-2 was a gamble as they have not really played this a lot and was dependent on the midfield and defence playing differently.
The game started with rain steadily falling and us playing up hill. We started strong and were soon in front as Maisy scored a great opening goal in the 4th minute. This was soon followed up by Yasmin who scored in the 7th minute. Both of our strikers scoring were very pleasing and rewarding from the work done at last training event. We continued to dominate and playing really well with some great pass and moving by the girls. It was great to see that Sammy added to our goal tally in the 14th minute as her work rate in midfield was of a high quality today. Player of the Match Kia scored her first of the game in the 20th minute. 4-0 up in these conditions and uphill was down to the determination and work rate of all the girls from goalkeeper to striker every player played above expectations today.
Second half and a change by King George tested our defence with their Goalkeeper now on the pitch as an attacker. She caused us a few problems and it was interesting to see how the girls adapted to this. Our defence were more in the game but interestingly tried to pass the ball forward rather than kick and see where the ball went. This certainly helped us keep possession and have more chances on goal. Kia latched on to a great move and cross from Sammy and hit home her second goal in the 54th minute. Sealing the game for us as 5-0 winners.
The girls were a credit today playing some great football and their work rate was of a high standard. Well done in a great team effort and a superb team win.
